A Message from the Principal
Welcome to Berendale School - Excellence in Inclusive Education. A school for secondary aged students with a mild to moderate Intellectual Disability.
As a proud Principal who has more than 20 years’ experience in government schools my philosophy is that “every child can learn and experience success when given the right opportunities”. I fully support the school values of Resilience, Respect, Integrity and Independence.
Berendale School provides a comprehensive curriculum program with a strong focus on Literacy and Numeracy. Students follow the Victorian Curriculum in Years 7-10 and the VCAL Foundation Curriculum in Years 11 and 12. Our students take part in a number of specialist classes including: Physical Education, Art, Music, Digital and Food Technology.
The school accesses career and pathway programs and students each have Individual Learning Plans to support them post school. These include employment services such as: Marriot, Outlook, The Bridge and Access. Berendale School runs a School Based Apprenticeship and Traineeship (SBAT) Program in Horticulture.
To be eligible for enrolment, students must be funded under the Program for Students with a Disability under the category of Intellectual Disability with an IQ between 50 and 70.
The school is committed to the Child Safe Standards and protecting the rights and safety of students.
