Teaching and Learning

Years 10 to 12 students have timetabled classes to access the Trade Kitchen for learning. This learning forms part of their ILP and VCAL program and supports their pathway planning.

Students develop valuable skills in hospitality, financial literacy, marketing and event management. This includes learning about customer service, food preparation, clean up, record keeping and coffee making skills.

They apply their skills and knowledge to operate the school café, Coffee LAB. This involves them preparing lunch orders and providing counter service during recess for staff and students. Also, they cater for community events held in the school.

In the past, students have catered for:

  • Opening of the Hospitality Building event
  • Harmony Day event
  • VCAL Cluster Teacher Network event
  • BaMP Art Teachers Network event
  • Education Support Staff professional development event

Enrichment and Extension

Qualified and experienced Baristas hold training sessions for students, reflecting the current trends in café operation and coffee making. Students can complete accredited barista and food handling certificates.
